Updates for a National Landmark

Arlington National Cemetary
Washington, DC

StudioCraft was approached by a furniture dealer to work on a Information Desk for the Welcome Center of the Arlington National Cemetery. We were brought in early in the project to redesign and replace the existing desk, which was over 40 years old.

Design challenges included making sure the new desk fit over the existing footprint, which was home to all power and HVAC ventilation, and ensuring that the new desk met all current ADA requirements. Additionally, all work had to be done after park hours.

The final product was built using Formica natural grain laminate with a quartz countertop, plus aluminum accents and toe-kicks for increased durability. We also created 3-dimensional multi-color ANC plaques. The result was a very durable new information desk that is now ADA compliant, branded with the Arlington National Cemetery crest.

It was an honor to be part of this project for the US government at such a historic location in our country’s capital.
